The SHOTGUN RESIDENCE sits on a long narrow lot (41’x140’) as a shotgun style house, originally built for mill workers around 1889. It is located within the Lindley Place Historic District but listed as non-contributing, most likely due to shotgun features altered over time (new windows, new door, porch removed, addition degradation). Renovation goals strengthen the relationship to the street and historic district by preserving the original existing house and complimenting the proportions with a contemporary shotgun style addition responding to the owners current living needs and site conditions. Site conditions have changed over time with adjacent property renovations creating an opportunity to capture valuable usable south facing outdoor space and maximize light into the home.
